Teacher Role

Rationale

The most important factor affecting student learning is the teacher.  Improvement in teacher practice results in increased student learning.  The framework for teacher professional practice in Sun West School Division is outlined in the Sun West Teacher Professional Practice Handbook. In addition, an organizing framework for supporting teachers in Personalized electronic Blended Learning (PeBL) classrooms is needed. This model is intended to help create an understanding of the demands of new forms of pedagogy so school leaders can take action their support teachers and teachers can move forward with a clear understanding of the 21st Century classroom. This framework should be viewed as a starting point rather than prescriptive. Emphasis has been placed on the mindsets, qualities, and skills that support teacher’s continuous improvement as well as ability to thrive amidst change. We know that the most important factor affecting student learning is the teacher.
